It’s the Dodgers World: Sock’s MVP Rankings

3 min read

The Dodgers batters are taking over the NL. How many made the top 5 this week?

NL MVP Rankings

On the Bubble: Bryce Harper, Jurickson Profar, William Contreras, Ketel Marte, Fernando Tatis Jr.

5. Freddie Freeman – LAD: Last Week’s Ranking: On the Bubble
Freddie cracks the top 5 with all his Dodger teammates after slashing .389/.455/.889 over the past week with 2 home runs. He slashes .294/.395/.485 on the season with 8 home runs and 38 RBIs. A few names could have grabbed the five spot this week, but I’ll ride the hot hand.

4. Will Smith – LAD: Last Week’s Ranking: #5
Will Smith only played in three games this past week, but he made the most of it with a 1.007 OPS across 11 at-bats. His slash line is .299/.364/.512, which is slightly worse than Freeman’s, but he has one more home run and the catcher tax. He moves up to number four this week.

3. Shohei Ohtani – LAD: Last Week’s Ranking: #2
Ohtani had a rough week. He was the Dodgers’ worst-qualified hitter, slashing .238/.304/.381 with one home run. Ohtani is no longer the NL leader in OPS, which went down to .973. He is still a great player, but he moves to number three.

2. Marcell Ozuna – ATL: Last Week’s Ranking: #3
Ozuna had a great week, slashing .333/.400/.722 with 2 home runs and 6 RBIs. He leads the NL in home runs, RBIs, and OPS. Ozuna has an OPS over 1.000, but unless Mookie Betts has a rough stretch, it will be hard to put a DH at number one.

1. Mookie Betts – LAD: Last Week’s Ranking: #1
Mookie Betts only had 3 hits this past week, but 2 were home runs. He now has 10 home runs on the year with a .932 OPS. His lead in the NL race is slimming down.

AL MVP Rankings

On the Bubble: Bobby Witt Jr, Brent Rooker, Salvador Perez, Issac Paredes, Jose Ramirez

5. Rafael Devers – BOS: Last Week’s Ranking: On the Bubble
Devers has been on a tear over the last 15 days, slashing .319/.377/.638 with 3 home runs. He is hitting .287/.378/.569 on the season with 13 home runs and 32 RBIs. Devers has climbed to 4th on the AL OPS list and 5th on my AL MVP rankings.

4. Gunnar Henderson – BAL: Last Week’s Ranking: #4
Gunnar Henderson had a 1.055 OPS with a home run and three doubles this past week. He’s tied for 2nd in the AL with 19 home runs. Gunnar has a .947 OPS and stays at number four on my rankings

3. Kyle Tucker – HOU: Last Week’s Ranking: #3
Tucker only played in three games this past week because of his injury but had three hits in seven at-bats. He is batting .266/.395/.584 during the season with 19 home runs and 40 RBIs. Tucker stays at number three on my list.

2. Juan Soto – NYY: Last Week’s Ranking: #2
Hopefully, Soto’s forearm issue isn’t long-term because he has been fantastic. In 14 at-bats, Soto hit .429/.571/.1000 with 2 home runs. He has a 1.027 OPS on the year and ranks second on my list.

1. Aaron Judge – NYY: Last Week’s Ranking: #1
He’s been incredible. Judge hit .467/.636/.867 with a 1 home run and 9 RBIs in 15 at-bats over the last week. He leads the AL in doubles, home runs, walks, OPS, and OPS+. Aaron Judge has been the AL MVP through the season’s first two months.
