Is “The Process” Officially Over?

2 min read

For roughly eight years, the Sixers were in this so-called “process” of rebuilding to finally make it to the NBA finals once again. After eight years though, it seems as if they have hit a roadblock. After never overcoming the hump of the Eastern Conference Semifinals and blowing a series against the Hawks this past season, one of the key players the Sixers built around has gone rogue from the organization. This player is the one and only Ben Simmons. This situation comes as no shock to me. After “blowing” the series against the Hawks this past season (in many fans’ eyes) Sixers’ fans are officially done protecting Ben and are giving him the criticism he deserves. Simmons can’t handle the heat one bit, and instead of trying to come out and talk about all of this, he has decided to go rogue from the Sixers and request a trade to a different team. This poses the question of what team is best suited for him? I think it’s quite hard to put Simmons at any team right now, especially since he wants to be a point guard that can’t shoot, but some teams that could potentially work with him are the Warriors, Trailblazers, and the Cavaliers. I do expect him to get traded before the start of the season, but teams are definitely going to have to give up a major haul to the Sixers. On the plus side, the Sixers still have one of the most dominant centers in the league to build around, Joel Embiid.
