John Wall on the Move Once Again?

2 min read

Just two days ago, the Rockets and John Wall came to a mutual agreement to seek trades for him. With the Rockets drafting Jalen Green and Josh Christopher this past summer, it seems as if trading John Wall was impendent. This makes you question, which teams are the most suitable for a trade like this? In my opinion, there are not many teams that can benefit from the acquisition of Wall, except teams such as the Sixers, Clippers and Cavaliers.

Sixers: I think a trade with the Sixers makes the most sense for both sides. Philly is currently trying to offload the former first overall pick, Ben Simmons, but have been struggling to find a trade that best works for them. A trade for Wall would benefit both sides because Wall can finally give the aggressiveness the Sixers have been looking for in a guard, while Simmons can give the Rockets a major defensive presence on the court.

Clippers: This trade could happen, but the Clippers would need to give a good chunk of their players. Unfortunately, the Clippers have no first round picks until 2027, but they do have the likes of the newly acquired Eric Bledsoe, Luke Kennard, and/or Marcus Morris.

Cavaliers: I’m a huge fan of this potential destination. The Cavaliers are currently a major dumpster fire, but adding someone like John Wall might help turn that around. It seems as if the Cavs have moved passed Collin Sexton and trading Sexton and maybe Kevin Love could benefit both sides. Not only would the Rockets gain a big man with experience, but the Cavs would have Darius Garland learn under John Wall.

While I can’t see Wall getting traded anytime soon, especially with that massive contract, I expect these teams are the most likely destinations for him.
