Monday Night Football Review: Lions Have a Long Way To Go

2 min read

Lions start out the rebuilding process 0-2 and this is no shock to any Lions fan

The Lions started out the gate hot, opening the game with a 7-0 lead. The Packers would quickly answer back with an Aaron Jones touchdown. Jared Goff had a great first half with a dime to TJ Hockenson in the back of the endzone. However, the Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones show would continue as they would connect again. The Lions would lead at halftime but that would be the last time they would lead and score. The Packers would run the show the rest of the way and the Lions would be left in the dust.

Lions Review

Jared Goff looked great in the first half but terrible in the second half. He had many bad throws and poor decisions including throwing to a covered receiver on 4th down with two other receivers wide open directly in front of him. The defense looked bad as well. They had three sacks on Rodgers but the linebacking core and secondary looked very rough. It doesn’t help the Lions don’t have their CB1 and CB2 but it was still a bad defensive performance overall. The positives are that the offensive held up pretty well and TJ Hockenson looks like the real deal. It’s a long road ahead for the Lions and they need to improve the defense in the upcoming years.

Packers Review

This game looked more like the Packers we expected to see. Aaron Rodgers firing on all cylinders with the run game looking as good as it should. Rodgers made great throws all night lighting up the poor Lion’s defense as they look to continue their winning ways against the 49ers next week. I think the Saints game was just a rare glitch for the Packers. They should be fine down the road. However, their defensive coordinator is the defensive coordinator from the 0-16 Lions. Their defense could go south really quickly especially if injuries accumulate.
